Tony -

Assuming these benchmarks are official, this now moves P4 past the top of the line Alpha in Floating Point performance as well as Integer. The P4 is now the fastest processor on the planet bar none, as measured by SPEC. It is remarkable to look back over the last few years when x86 wasn't very competitive in highend systems and now Intel's x86 processors have passed them all. Remember when the PPC was the newest hottest thing and was going to blow that old x86 to hell and back? PPC is toast. MIPs just a memory. SPARC was going to destroy x86. It's sucking wind and falling farther and farther back of the pack. ALPHA was the fastest thing on the planet, well not any more. As for performance improvement, x86's second derivative is greater than any other architecture and P4 is just warming up.

OT Hi Tony and Thread,

I went to a hilarious party over the weekend, that had a clever investment theme to it, so thought I'd share it here:

The party was basically an egg hunt, but it involved seeking out hidden eggs that happened to be filled with pieces of paper with 'investments' written on them. So, inside each plastic egg, an "investment" was typed onto a tiny piece of paper, e.g. "1 BRKa". The eggs were hidden and no one knew which egg had which 'investment.'

Some eggs had pretty good 'investments.' I actually found the egg that had INTC inside it, which I thought was fitting.

One egg had "PRSCX: Price Science & Technology" - which I wasn't familiar with - I think someone said it was a good fund.

But I also found the egg that had some Canadian Mining company listed, which generated a few laughs from others. I also found the egg that had "LU Short-Sale."

The egg hunt party was called "nestegg." (Bad, hey?)

Regards,
Amy J
