The type of grass that grows here - fescue - gets smothered if you let too tall grass mulch it. When I was living in New Orleans I couldn't understand why gardening publications go to elaborate length to explain seeding and feeding and caring for a lawn. Now that I'm here, I understand. The green stuff in the back yard is moss. The green stuff in the front yard is dandelions and clover. The guy next door who pays for Lawn Chem service has a beautiful yard. I don't, except for where the dog goes. That's really lush.;^)
