Bomb attack in Israel; 2 hurt

Monday, April 23, 2001 09:35 AM EDT

OR YEHUDA, Israel, Apr 23, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- At
least 2 people were slightly wounded Monday when a car bomb exploded in a
commercial center in Or Yehuda, east of Tel Aviv.

Maj. Gen. Yossi Sedbon, commander of the Tel Aviv police, said the explosives
were packed into a pipe. The car had been stolen in Jerusalem.

The bomb exploded at about 2:30 p.m. and damaged several vehicles parked nearby.

On Sunday, a 53-year-old doctor was killed and 50 others were hurt in Sava,
northeast of Tel Aviv, when a suicide bomber detonated it when a bus stopped at
a station there. The bomber was also killed.
