Thanks, HC. The frustration of knowing just enough to tempt us continues to haunt.

Seconds Out.

HC -- Your request to call OnStar's 800 number really started something!! There must be thousands of readers of SI's GMGC posts!! I called numerous times over a several-hour period yesterday afternoon and only got busy signals. Will try again today.

Meanwhile, my friend with the new Saab checked with his dealership (in Missouri) several weeks ago, and was told that PC/VA would be available "late April, early May." He's checking again now to get an update. Will report back later.

HC -- As an update on PC/VA rollout, yesterday I finally got through to OnStar and was told that it is now available in Missouri. I told that to my friend with the Saab, who this morning called OnStar directly, rather than his dealership. After a couple minutes of being on hold, he was transferred to Customer Enrollment and signed up for PC and VA. He was told that the system would be operable after 1:00 PM tomorrow, and he's looking forward to begin using it.

He was offered several different payment packages, and selected 300 minutes for $120 (which he paid up-front with a credit card, so there's no monthly billing), excluding 30 minutes of free calling which has to be used up in 30 days. So 330 minutes at $120 is $0.36/minute if my math's right, which seems kinda high . . . but he's more than happy to pay it and is excited about accessing via voice all of the info already available through VA, and avoiding using his cell phone given the distraction risks and the purported, but not proven, "brain-cancer" risk (he claims his brain is damaged enough already!!).

Best,
ea
