I consider a successful design to be far more interesting than a successful fab.

Yes, but the number of people who can be employed designing things is relatively small. However, I was responding to your post which implied that large numbers of ARM processors were made in the UK, despite high energy costs. It is of course good that ARM are able to collect royalties from around the world.
