twfowler, RE: If prices go up high enough there might be political pressure to control prices even if it is a stupid idea economically. People in the US would likely get very angry over $5/gallon gasoline. Yep. Note that people in California are getting very angry when faced with the prospect of having to pay market prices for power. Odds are a similar thing will happen if gasoline prices spike. And it won't help matters to have a president that is friendly with the oil & gas industry.
