"On the other hand, paper launching the 1.7 P4 @$350 makes no sense"

While you have a point, the fact that Dell isn't advertising them is just about the worst sign you could have. Ok, I'll buy them not showing up on PriceWatch, P4's have been dead on the screwdriver market. But none from Dell? Mickey should be all over this thing. All indications point to there just being enough of these for reviewers...

At least at this point. I have little doubt that they will actually ship at some point. Maybe this is closer to the 1GHz PIII than the 1.13GHz ones. Hell of a hit on their margins though.

Hmm, come to think of it, this might be the equivalent of when IBM scheduled a press conference to announce the day that they would announce the availability of something or other, PS/2 maybe?

We have just been informed by Intel that they have implented a Stop Ship on their mobile
PIII 1Ghz processors

Huh? This is not just a shortage, Intel have stopped shipping them. What gives? Is the mobile PIII 1GHz dysfunctional?

☻Pathetic! kind of reminds me the 1.13GHz launch : deploying the red carpet for the 1.1GHz Athlon...

☻they're doing it once again to welcome the mobile Palomino, which will be here on May 14th, with it's friends PowerNow! and 2.5V DDR SDRAM.

☻Intel is steadily getting surrounded on all fronts. If no one wants a dud even a that bargain price, Intel will see red before long. And if Intel decide to bleed, AMD will have to follow.

☻I don't think PIII is selling like hotcakes, it no longer has lower infrastructure costs, and it's clocked 333 MHz lower for the same price.
