Those that claimed they would be first are now revealed to have been last all along.

JohnG,

Not only will the users of 1x & cdma2000 enjoy a much better experience than their gsm/gprs counterparts beginning later this year but todays news will reverberate right on down through the supplier foodchain. Operators that have selected or are considering a cdma2000 migration path no doubt feel more secure about their plans while the others (particularly those that will have to compete with cdma2000) may be feeling a bit uneasy and give more serious consideration to switching. Suppliers who want in on the crest of the 3G wave will start spending more of their time on cdma2000 related projects (both hardware and software), and on and on. No doubt about it this is good news for the cdma2000 camp and really strains the credibility of all those predicting a 3G world comprised of 80%/20% wdcma vs. cdma2000.
