The current issue of Lancet has an interesting article on the sequencing of s aureus. Whole genome sequencing of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus It's discussed in an accompanying editorial: thelancet.com The article itself is also worth a look, although it is less accessible: thelancet.com It provides a nice insight into how stuff that used to be totally mysterious (Why is one strain virulent and another not? Why is one strain resistant and another not?) is slowly starting to yield to genomics. Peter P.S. Anyone know if meticillin is the same as methicillin? Just an English spelling difference maybe?
