CNBC just discussed telecoms -- SBC reported today and even though they met estimates, their guidance is lower for the rest of the year. Telecoms will have to make large investments in infrastructure in the next year to keep up with DSL, etc., and this will eat into profits. The CNBC analyst said not to expect much from them in the next year in the way earnings growth. In fact, earnings will probably be DOWN for the group. Tomorrow Quest reports and I believe LU reports tomorrow or Wed.
