Anybody ever try cooking soy beans?

I buy miso paste and wakame at an Asian market. The cashier
there reccommended frozen soy beans as a great snack. They're
frozen raw. The directions say to boil for 5 minutes, season and serve.
They really sucked! After 5 minutes they weren't soft enough, after 8
minutes they still weren't done. After 10 minutes I took them off the
stove. The beans inside the pods were good but the pods were too
hard and stringy to eat. It was like putting whole peanuts in a dish
then shelling them while eating.

Any how if anyone likes miso soup here's a simple recipe that tastes
just like the miso soup served at the Japanese restaurants in my area.

For 1 serving:(can be multiplied for multiple servings)

1 cup water
1 tablespoon miso paste
1 teaspoon wakame
1 stalk scallion
.5 - 2 oz. tofu

Cut the dense part of the scallion into 1/4" pieces and the thin
part (the top) into 3/4"- 1" pieces and add along with the wakame
to one cup of water and boil. Once the water boils add the tofu
then slowly stir in miso paste. Return to boil, serve. Restaurants
usually use very little tofu, I prefer more hence the big range I
used above. I've tried tinkering with the recipe but could not improve.
