The captain of the US sub that collided with the japanese fishing boat was forced to retire. He will still get this pension. It occured to me that the japanese historically overfish the oceans, pushing some fish species to the point of extinction, and they bash the heads of dolphins in out of fear that their fish will get eaten by the dolphins. Well, if the penalty for sinking a japanese fishing boat is getting kicked out of the navy, maybe we have more officers who can command submarines than they have fishing boats.
