Again ST, some RBOCS are steady with expenditures. Read the VZ report. They haven't reduced spending at all this year. Maybe small temporary cut-backs in some but VZ hasn't budged. SBC and FON are also spending a lot. FON sacrificed profits this uarter for expenditures. Their revenues were almost unaffected, same with SBC. Still, I don't own any recipients of expenditures except LU which was overly beaten down and was a great buy today under 9. LU directly benefits from VZ's largesse now. Today was very encouraging to me as a long. Gave the shorts the day they wanted/deserved (to cover) and the market needed to get rid of the bubbly feeling. Nice snap back on close as I warned about in an earlier post before close. Finished on an upnote which bodes for longs tomorrow and beyond. I say we go two steps up one step back from here until the Fed cuts. We hold Naz 2050 and head toward 2450 which would be my short-term time to sell certain stocks. But some of my stocks are defensive or dogs fresh from a flea bath so I would hold them. LOR, SCNT, NOVL should rock now for instance and big RBOCS/telcos should do just fine. WCOM under 19 was also a very good buy. If you can get it at that price again I'd rec. Just watch. Still I can't disagree with some of the shorts you and others mentioned at the end of last week. They were due for a hair-cut. I wouldn't buy NT for instance until 14 and ERICY until 5 or just under. May never get there so I may never own them again. gg
