Yeah right, California is so environmental conscious they paved the state and sent everyone driving around in SUV's. :)

They aren't environmentally conscious. They're environmentally confused.

The wealthy tend to export their pollution elsewhere, such as power generation, land fills, etc. Out of sight, out of mind. We've destroyed all our wildlife, and now we expect you not to destroy yours. People can take a soapbox as long as their own greed and selfishness are unaffected. You need only look at the suburban sprawl to see the degradation. EDIT: not you specifically, that is.
