You left out the part where she inspired Hodgkin's choice. Either there is a God, or Mother Theresa was crazy. No other choices allowed.

You also forgot a more telling slam on Hitchens. He writes for The Nation too, probably for a lot longer than he's written for Vanity Fair. That ought to count for considerably more ad hominem points among the righteous right.

I don't have to explain them away. I know what a mythological figure is.

I know how eager people are to believe certain lies.

You yourself said here that you didn't much care, where heroes are concerned, about what is true and what isn't.

What, btw, do you think is untrue in what I have cited?

What that you do accept as true do you find admirable?

What has Mother Teresa ever done for peace, that she deserved a peace prize? Just wondering.

She herself said that war was a result of politics, and, being unpolitical, she never got involved in matters to do with war.

Why did she get the Nobel Peace Prize, Christopher?

Because in fact she was not all bad, being human?

And add to that...

Sentimentality?

Some things are more important than truth?

The judges didn't know certain truths?

The judges believed the myths?

The judges loved the image and knew the reality but thought the image was more important than the reality?
