MHz Sells (TM McMannis) is a very powerful marketing tool.
It allows you to set the standard from which similar CPUs are priced.
Intel jumped 200 Mhz this time. Also very significant.
On top of that, somehow Intel has gotten most hardware sites/benchmark makers to showcase more and benchmarks that favor P4, such as Sismark 2001 (vs 2000) and several bandwith benchmarks which I can't figure out what they have
to do with the real world.
Intel is a very good marketing company. AMD needs a another speed grade or two, immediately or they are going to have a hard time keeping ASPs up.
