I believe there are already a lot of people who prefer to have reliable electricity and reasonably priced gasoline, but they don't yell and scream. A small group of environmental extremists are driving the media coverage. The media like extremists. They make for interesting copy. The real test will come if the people of Florida are given the clear choice of letting Coastal Petroleum drill and pay royalties to the State or preventing the drilling and paying Coastal Petroleum a big lump sum of cash. I think the taxpayers of Florida will opt for letting them drill. They may even be enthusiastically for drilling like Alaskans or even the people in Louisiana and Alabama.
