Assuming they feel that they can compete on equal footing, with lower margins, to win back share (something I'd be wary of), it's not such a bad thing.

But I'm always skeptical of that kind of behavior. I'd think CPQ is better off maintaining margins and sacrificing share. Dell will have to raise its prices at some point, even as they gain share, and then CPQ will be in a better position.

All told, however, I don't think CPQ is in a bad place. Certainly not the place many of us thought they'd be in.
