"Intel (INTC:Nasdaq - news) agreed to acquire three companies that produce electrical components used in optical networking equipment.

"Financial terms of the acquisitions weren't disclosed. The company acquired Cognet, which is based in Los Angeles, and nSerial, Santa Clara, Calif. Both companies develop high-speed electronic components for 10-gigabit ethernet optical modules. Additionally, Intel agreed to buy LightLogic, Newark, Calif., a provider of highly integrated, high-speed optical equipment."
