Playfair Mining releases San Miguel results

Thu 26 Apr 2001

News Release

Mr. D. Neil Briggs reports

Playfair Mining has provided the follow-up results of conventional
geochemical soil sampling of the northern part of the exceptionally large
and high-magnitude E-1 anomaly on its 100-per-cent-owned San Miguel
property in Mexico. The extensive E1 anomalous area is in fact two distinct
large anomalies now known as E1-South and El-North. The E1-North anomaly
begins about 1.6 kilometres north of the northern limit of the E1-South
anomaly.
Playfair discovered the outstanding E1 anomalies in the course of a
regional exploration program using a relatively new technique, Mobile Metal
Ion (MMI) geochemistry over a 1.2-million-hectare property in Central
Mexico. The E-1 anomalies are about 15 kilometres southeast of the mining
district of Charcas -- Mexico's largest zinc producer Currently mining
underground at a rate of 4,500 tonnes of ore per day.
Playfair's conventional soil sampling survey of the El-North anomaly is
yielding extremely high values, comparable with those previously reported
an the El-South anomaly (09 and 10).
Twenty-four out of 25 soil samples over a 1,500-metre length of the
East-West line 2553200N returned zinc values exceeding 1,000 parts per
million, 14 of these samples show values greater than 5,000 parts per
million zinc and five are greater than 1 per cent zinc with a maximum value
of 5.7 per cent. Lead, copper and silver values are also extremely high
over the same line interval. The highest silver value is 120.5 parts per
million (equivalent to 120.5 grams per tonne or 3.51 ounces per ton).
Details of the results are shown below.

Two of the major international mining companies that have visited the
property have taken soil samples in the E1-North area. Results are
remarkably consistent. A comparison of results by Playfair and the other
companies at several locations is shown below.

All samples were taken at a depth of 10 centimetres to 20 centimetres,
field-screened and analyzed by ICP following Aqua Regia extraction.
Additional soil sample lines to test the extent of the anomaly along its
anticipated North-South strike. are currently in progress.
Playfair has recently completed a $1-million financing and is well financed
for the work in progress.
