Here's a cool map showing the amount of power generated and consumed by state in the first 11 months of 2000. Texas generates 1/10 of the US total, wow. It also is the biggest consumer but still has a sizable surplus. CA, on the other hand, has a deficit of 55,175 million kilowatt hours. (That doesn't sound right...that would come to 55,175,000 megawatts...can someone correct this? 55,175 megawatts makes more sense) TX and CA are the biggest power consumers, no other states come close.
