.BAT files in StartUp ...

If one puts a .BAT file in the StartUp folder, they may want to include an EXIT command at the end. The EXIT will shut the window when the work is done. Without it, the window will need to be closed manually.

Cheers, PW.

You can put the command ERASE C:\WINDOWS\FF*.TMP into a .BAT file. If you put this .BAT file into the STARTUP folder, it will do the job.

This worked perfectly (as you knew it would), but it did leave the file open on the screen. I saw your follow up post about adding EXIT to prevent this. After the ERASE command I hit enter and added EXIT. It still stays on the screen and it seems to have added C:\WINDOWS> in front of both lines. What did I do wrong this time?<g>

My only experience with batch files was back in the old days of DOS and always started with....copy con.....and ended with F6. This was usually to put a file into the root of C for some purpose or other.
