Neo,

I was born at 7,500 ft. in Los Alamos, and generally people raised at high elevation adapt well with larger hearts and higher red blood counts.

A lot of top distance runners came from the Los Alamos area. Anthony Sandoval was the top marathon runner in the world in 1980, but was locked out of the Olympics by the moron who was President before Reagan. Rick Rojas was the American 20K record holder at one time. Lynn Bjorklund and Al Waquie were two other world class runners from the area.

All through high school I thought I was a lousy runner until I later discovered that my teammates were the best in the world.
