Boeing is a pretty big loss imo (even if it is ONLY the corporate headquarters). I know that Microsoft is out of Redmond, WA and that you have no state income tax (you get it from the out of towners, like me with HUGE taxes on hotels and rental cars). Your state (and you?) feel more comfortable with someone else paying your bills. In the long run such liberal policies will hurt the state of WA more than they help. I do quite a lot of business in the Redmond area and have seen it become extremely over crowded and over priced (just like CA). The traffic is worse than in the SF Bay area imo and I don't see it getting much better.

10 years ago it was a great place. It still has awesome physical beauty but the "cool" grunge look of not keeping one's self clean is kind of creepy and the two recent episodes of rioting are not too becoming for the region either. Lots of new rich tech yuppies clogging the streets and making the housing unaffordable is not as appealing to me as it is to you.
