<<Is there any federal or state subsidy on ethanol? >>

There was when corn was $3.50 a bushel. Now corn is less than 1/2 that.

Unlike MTBE that only cuts pollution until the engine warms up and causes cancer, adding 10% of ethyl alcohol to gas makes it burn 60% cleaner. It does this buy making for a more complete burn of the gas.

80% alcohol has been used but the 10% is what you mostly find. A 50-50 blend would really cut our gas usage and make the air cleaner. The big problem is the last administration wasn't ethanol friendly and we don't have the plants needed to produce the ethyl alcohol needed, they went for the polluting MTBE instead.

In a way no. If more ethanol was used, corn prices would be higher and subsidies to farmers would be lessened. Same money, just how it's spent. Last years farm program, in some states government payments made up over 200% of farm profits. Yes, that's possible. Say a farm would loose $50 per acre but with the payments made $50 per acre. That's the 200%.
