Ciena (nasdaq: CIEN - news - people) fell 4.7%, and Juniper Networks (nasdaq: JNPR - news - people) was down more than 3% in sympathy during after hours trading. Applied Micro Circuits could force the stocks to see more red on Wednesday, since they also supply telecom companies with equipment.

And equipment king Lucent Technologies (LU:NYSE - news) saw more gains tonight with its shares climbing 0.5% to $10.30 on Instinet, after finishing over 11% higher in regular trading. The market certainly likes the company's putative turnaround . Rival Ciena (CIEN:Nasdaq - news) was also higher, gaining 0.3% to $56.84 on Island, while Cisco (CSCO:Nasdaq - news) rose 0.9% to $16.40 on Instinet.
