The SPOF problem is same on any large black box which is the core of an operation ... Murphy's laws. You show me a company with a million-dollar black box which concentrates all data traffic, and I'll show you a klutz in the the NOC who will accidently trip over a power cable.

What do you want to bet that a 10 cent surface-mounted fuse on the backplane can fail, and bring that puppy of yours down? ALl of those redundant lasers and channel blades don't help you then ... or what if a human makes a stupid configuration error? .. or what if you no.. WHEN you have to flash new firmware and reboot?

Now, there is certainly a market among large users that have enough traffic to saturate several of these, and that is fine, but don't think that because this device can handle 100% of a companies traffic, with room to spare that they will buy quantity one. They won't and shouldn't. They need to buy two smaller devices for full redundancy.
