Gold stock price moves seem much more closely correlated with lease rates than POG lately. When POG jumps, gold stocks usually lag on the assumption that the commercials are using the spike to cut long positions. But soaring lease rates are something else entirely -- reflecting the possibility that the CBs will cut the supply of cheap leased gold to short-sellers.
