HORSHAM, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 25, 2001-- VerticalNet, Inc. (Nasdaq: VERT - news), the Internet' s leading
business-to-business e-commerce enabler, announced today the appointment of former SAP America President, Christopher
Larsen, to Executive Vice President of Global Field Operations.

In this new role, Larsen will be responsible for overseeing global software sales, professional services, customer support
services and alliance management for the company.

In addition, he will spearhead the marketplace adoption of VerticalNet's core technology assets to extend the Company's
leadership position in delivering robust private marketplace software applications to large enterprises and software enablement
products to small and medium sized businesses.

During his eight-year tenure at SAP, Larsen successfully led a number of mission-critical initiatives, including leading the
transformation of SAP America into a solutions-oriented company, driving significant software revenue growth and forging
important relationships with key business partners.

In his most recent role as president of SAP America, Inc., Larsen managed daily its multi-billion P&L with over 2,000
employees while driving the go-to-market strategy development and execution of the U.S. subsidiary as it evolved from a
product orientation to a more customer focused solutions-oriented design.

Larsen rebuilt and led a management team across seven business sectors, and drove and enhanced numerous key alliance
relationships, resulting in continued improvement of software revenue growth. In addition, Larsen led the strategy development
and deployment of the mySAP.com rollout across the Americas region.
