you're definitely welcome, gottfried btw, the other day you asked for input on whether to upgrade to nsw2001. i'd say that we might look into how long 2001 has been around (these version numbers seem to have lost some of their correlation with the calendar year), the thought being that an upgrade may be in the pipeline. my only way of tracking this stuff offhand would be to report that i loaded nsw2001 on this machine on 11/11/2000... getting close to six months ago. the symantec yearly virus def subscription rate is dirt cheap.... $3.95 i think. but the whole package is more fun. they really are constantly improving on their interface and the tools themselves. if i were you, i'd even consider the norton personal firewall or norton internet security program to round out the suite. even with dial up connection, the issue of internet security is real and growing every day. i am reading more and more favorable reviews on npf. i recently configured my privacy settings on npf to block credit card, cookie and email address info from reaching the internet. that is, i am prompted if someone is attempting to retrieve it. with the credit card info, for instance, i only enter the last 4 digits of a card i use to order online. just the last four digits. that way, if an attempt is being made to send the card number outbound, i get notified, and can authorize the transmission or block it. you can put whatever you want in the privacy settings. i put my street address (just the numbers), my phone number, last four digits of my ssn, etc. it's a very nice tool to have at my disposal, and i feel better knowing it's in place. ramble ramble :) mark
