It appears they report it in real time on BubbleVision, ie, they add each component as it opens. I'm not sure how DowJones handles the reporting, I'd assume they report the "open" as the composite of all 30 components opening (which can only be determined after the fact if any are delayed)....hmmm, maybe someone else has the answer?

I think officially they simply use the opening print of each stock.
