Actually I think you have this backwards. You'd have to be pretty UN-observant to have not noticed that Jackson's verdict is about to be overturned.

That's a interesting observation. From my perspective 'they're just observant' competitors, politicians and lawyers. Whether there's a conspiracy between them, I honestly don't know. As to the rest of your post, the Appellate Court is not limited to the actions you've described as far as I'm aware of.
