Tony, Re: ML on MSFT

This was issued on 2/8 and followed up by a big tour of the media expressing doubts about the investment case for MSFT.

"Over the long-term, however, we don't find
MSFT's potential upside particularly
compelling at this price."

"Our analysis suggests that dependence on
Desktop will make sustainable EPS growth of
faster than 10%/year very difficult, even if
Consumer and Enterprise are successful
(consensus is for 15%-17% growth)."

"The stock trades at 32X CY02E EPS of
$2.03 (+ 9%), over a 3X PEG, which seems expensive
relative to the PEG valuations of other mature market
leaders (these typically trade around 2 PEG—although we
remember the days when 1 PEG was the norm). We
believe a multiple of 25X-30X would be more sustainable."

(You should keep in mind that this analyst had a $175 price target on INSP at this time last year.)

Tony,
We need your narrative on the interview that Charlie Rose conducted with Andy Grove. It was aired last night and I didn't catch the drift of what Andy was saying...ie it went way over my head...that's why I need help.

pbs.org
WEDNESDAY: Andrew Grove, Chairman, INTEL; John Hockenberry, Dateline NBC / Author, "A River Out Of Eden"; Charlie LeDuff, The New York Times

Andy said something about " ..when we go from .13 to .07 Intel needs a partner and some government involvement.."

He lost me. Hope somebody saw the interview...humble carl
