Note that given the person is already an employee of the company, that person has a ton of risk already in that company. Holding an overweighted position in that company's stock is probably not wise for most non-executive employees. If things turn down, there's no safety net, and no six figure income to cushion things in the near future. This can (and did) cause a lot of problems for a lot of people.

When you're talking about executives in a company, there are a whole host of other issues to consider. But when you're talking about rank-and-file staff, the risk/reward usually isn't there.
