He's trying to show his muscles. I guess he is trying to set up a stage for the proposal of star-war defense system. The system could be a disaster for the economy. US should pay more attention to terrorists, not China. Everyone knows Chinese won't hit US with nukes.

Read some newspaper articles from over in the area, like South China Morning Post. They are much less excited about it than USA commentators.
