CSCO layoffs beginning in earnest here. But something strange in the local paper. CSCO and NT are giving college students severance and job placement help. These are kids they offered jobs to but now cannot hire. Good PR but lousy news for employees who got the axe. Might even be an invitation for labor unions. newsobserver.com If you were laid off because the company could not afford to keep you, then you read that they also gave compensation to people who NEVER even worked there.....well...you figure it out.
