that seems to be the only possible explanation for very low p4 pricing - Intel is hoping that the mobile market would make up for the loss in revenue.

Indeed. I suspect that, even mobile Thoroughbred will not be able to compete at the speed grades at which Tualatin will be available. It will not be until mobile Barton makes an appearance that mobile Athlon will have a clear advantage over Tualatin.
