Andreas,

I don't think there was ever a processor from AMD or Intel in the last few years that arrived on time. So far the Hammer schedule has only slipped once (this time), and only by a quarter. I think you might be overreacting to this because of the many Palomino slips. Since the cores are developed by completely different teams, I don't think there's a system developing here.

I seem to recall that the purple dot representing Hammer was at Q4 2001 during the last year's annual meeting. But it is not as much of a problem that the slipage in 760 (1 quarter), 760MP (2-3 quarters), Mustang core (2-4 quarters - still MIA). This is the bread and butter, while Hammer is for now a pie in the sky.

For me the big question mark is not wether Hammer will ship in Q1, Q2 and Q3 (it would be a low volume product at first anyway) but if Palomino can keep up with P4. We will probably know in May or in June if this is the case.

Precisely, and the fact that Palomino still not here, and still an unknown quantity concerns me a lot more. Another blow was the news/rumor that the desktop Palomino will not have PowerNow, which really stinks, and closes the door that otherwise might have opened - to the low profile, small form factor corporate PCs. The whole strategy (as the Palomino delay was rationalized) of witholding PowerNow / Palomino from normal notebook and only sell it to high end Workstation/Server/Mobile is very suspect to me.
