The number of children that were born as a direct result of Mother Theresa's statements against birth control is very unlikely to be in the millions. Perhaps you could save me some trouble here. Do you leap before you look?? (1). 2,000,000 is millions (so is 60,000,000). (2). In 1998, MT's workers numbered in the realm of 5000. (3). There is an Indian population, and there is a world population. (4). The purpose of the Sisters of Charity (FOR 50 YEARS) has been to minister to the "poorest of the poor". (5). Many books have been written by apologists which are rather boastful of the impact that the organization of MT has had on preventing the "slaughter" of millions of unborn babies"...as well as "millions of innocents". (6). The children of poor people have a very significantly reduced mortality rate, and they do not normally have the resources to optimally relieve the effects of squalor and disease whilst they die (note how this relates to the mandate of ministering to the "poorest of the poor"). (7). Although most people on this thread will never have a clue what AGONY means, or the motive for begging nature for death--AGONY does exist--and I know some on this thread who have experienced it. (8). Annual deaths of children (wherever the S. O. C. functioned over 50 years)...can probably be flipped up on the statistical charts by someone who has the time. (9) People can make sense out of numbers if they are sincere in their efforts. (10). This is number 10; it is magical. OH, TWOFOWLER--just curious: What made you think that MT's influence was so minor that in 50 years of proselytizing, she couldn't even influence 2,000,000 hopeless and helpless people to carry through with a pregnancy? Would you like me to try to help with the mathematics? Well, you may yet be correct. What evidence do you have to bury the obvious?? BTW, I'm merely curious--do you have a need to sanitize or whitewash these effects of MT's 50 years of exerting her power? She became a remarkable figure since that train ride, didn't she? Speaking as an expert...would you say THAT is when she married Jesus?? I am not a religious person; but if I had to guess when she became wedded to a belief that she was married to a supernatural being...this would be my guess. What do you think??
