I think it might be more related to the dirth of potential presidential candidates available to the Dems in 2004. It's going to be a tough assignment, trying to have Clinton-like hutzpah without the Clinton-like baggage. Kerrey is one of the few liberals who can still lay a hand on an image of patriotism, due to his war service.

So, as Carville might say: We gotta disassemble this guy before he gets too far along.

One good thing about the complete corruption of the Democratic party from the Clinton years: They may self-destruct just by trying to choose their next leader...
