hi zak

"elevators where you live now?"

no, no elevators now. just a nice, peaceful single-level residence.

"you can attribute your stupidity to adolescence"

young, reckless and bold. stupid? hmmmmm. i guess i'm kinda' proud of what i did. not too many guys can say they rode on top of elevators and stepped from car to car in a twelve story elevator shaft.

the greatest danger was from the cables and from the wheels rolling on the vertical tracks. i got the back of my jacket caught in there once and my buddy hit the emergency stop just in time as it was pulling me backwards into big, big trouble. i had to take the jacket off, then the plan was to hit the down button so the jacket would be spit back out. the plan went south when the up button got pressed instead, causing the wheel to pull my jacket all the way through and i watched it drop to the very bottom of the shaft.

mom: "where's that nice jacket i just bought you, son?"

son: "i guess i lost it at the movies, mom".

:)
