"As an exsmoker I support stiff laws against the tobacco companies. No other companies have a free hand with a highly addictive drug like nicotine. One of the reasons it's so hard to stop is that one can smoke almost anywhere so it becomes a way of life" . As an ex-smoker I agree with you. On various trips to Malaysia I noticed how the major cigarette companies had set up clubs for children that promoted smoking. At that time Malaysia enjoyed a surge in prosperity. When I quit smoking I quit cold. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. It took me a year to recover. I was smoking three to four packs a day!!! I quit many years ago."I cannot believe that the police now have to have less reason to arrest and jail you. Our rights are definitely being eroded by this right wing court. Can you imagine how bad it will get if Bush appoints more justices with this kind of law interpretation!!! When Bush was elected and when he took office I was anxious and depressed for weeks. I've never had an experience like it. I had never been so involved in the political process before. Although I don't have kids, I suppose I shouldn't worry about global warming so much. But to my surprise, I do! . It's interesting that you mention also the loss of personal liberties. I, too, have been anxious. The only thing that I can do is fight with words. Like Martin Luther, King, Jr., I believe in non-violent protests. The right wing is powerful because it is funded with money from big industry, and the Democrats are not as aggressive as they should be. If the American people want to preserve democracy, they will have to speak out and they must vote! Sincerely, Mephisto
