While AMD did not have an IPC advantage with SSA5, they had an even greater IPC advantage with 5k86 than Cyrix did with 6x86, and did use the PR rating system with 5k86. AMD's PR166 5k86 operated at 116.7/66 MHz versus Cyrix's PR166 6x86 operating at 133/66 MHz.

The reason AMD did not succeed with the PR rating system was that, even with it, they could not keep up.
