>For Clarence Thomas to state that: "90% of what a person thinks happened never did" probably would have caused more damaged to his cause.<

Not if he stressed that the 10% that were true were far more significant than any imagined transgressions.

> I think women in general are sensitive to claims of false memories and it would have been a no win situation for him to make such a stereotypical statement. Remember, Anita Hill was backed with the full force of the feminist movement.<

You mean backed into a corner by. Anita Hill did not want to testify against Clarence Thomas, she was forced to. Besides, it is not stereotypical, since men are just as prone to false memory syndrome as women in times of stress.

> Any aspersions that women are prone to certain behaviors would have been fodder for more attacks against himself.<

Perhaps you are correct. I could have gotten away with it. I could create an erotic, even perverted animation parody of the Anita Hill / Clarence Thomas hearing, and convince Anita Hill to jump to my defense. I doubt if Clarence Thomas would be able to do this. As you point out:

>As an aside, it was interesting to observe the stone cold silence of the feminist movement during the Clinton sagas. In hindsight the feminist movement's creditability, as it pertains to politics, is very close to zero.<

And I am quite certain that I could get not only Anita Hill, but many members of the feminist movement to defend my erotic and perverted parody simply because of their political agenda.

Nevertheless, I feel that, at the very least, Clarence Thomas should have shown the courtesy of hearing the accusations before categorically denying them. How was he to know what Anita Hill was interpreting as sexual harassment without hearing her out.
