Fyo, I'd expect Kap to know what he's talking about. ;) It was probably never on a public roadmap but the internal planning.

"Hammer has always been listed as .13µ SOI"

Well, there was that one interview on JC's (the one translated from Japanese maybe?), where the interviewee said that ClawHammer was to introduce at 0.18 micron. I'll see if I can find the darn thing...

<I have AMD roadmaps going back quite a while and, as far as I can tell, Hammer has always been listed as .13µ SOI, sampling in 4Q01 with production in 1Q02. The "SOI" tag was, on the other hand, missing from the Thoroughbred and Appaloosa boxes.>

Hammers were never designed for bulk. They were always on SOI. The latest change is from 180nm backend to 130nm.

>EDIT: The code name "Clawhammer" doesn't appear to have surfaced before late 3Q00. Before that, the roadmaps only have Sledgehammer.<

Technically, "Hammer" has indeed always been 0.13-micron SOI. The Q1 2001 sampling date predates the introduction of Athlon, when Hammer was still called K8. I am unaware of AMD announcing a new sampling date very soon after the shakeup in July 1999. The new roadmaps did not come out until after the name Sledgehammer was adopted. Come to think of it however, I can't say for sure that the name Sledgehammer did not predate the introduction of Athlon.

Anyway, we would have to go back to H1(Q2?) 1999 to find a sampling date of Q1 2001 mentioned.
