Good points Tom, something that occurred to me while I read your post...

When you ask someone, how are cultural issues in your family or extended family? Oh, they're just fine, everyone values our differences and loves eachother just the same.

Then you ask someone, how are cultural issues in your neighborhood? Oh, they're fine, I mean every once in a blue moon a problem arises but it's pretty minor. People value different races and treat eachother based on their character

Then you ask someone, how are things in your town? And they will basically say the same thing. We have an occasional outbreak from a few mal-contents. But everyone recognizes them as absurd and bitter racist, who don't deserve the time of day.

Then you ask someone, how are things in our country? And they will say, awful, we have a lot of problems that need dealing with. Riots break out over the stupidist things, etc. etc...

So I think you're right on the money. The left leaning media exacerbates the problem areas, and in many cases is culpable for riots and racial hatred.
