The above scrap is precisely the perfect caption to define colonialism Why stop with colonialism? Why not go back to ancient Israel, where the Palestinians (philistines/Cannanites) were invaded by the Hebrews operating under the "authority" of God Almighty?? The reality is that colonialism is nothing different that what occurred under ancient Greece, Rome, or the Ottomans where empires were built at the expense of the conquered. The Jews had not been a nation/state since Rome conquered them. And the same could be said for the Palestinians. Both ethnic groups have been the whipping boys of larger, more powerful nations. And every nation/state in the mid-east today is an product of artificial border making by the british and other colonial powers. The partitioning of Palestine in 1947 was artificial, with the Jewish and Palestinian partitions. When Israel declared independence and every Arab nation around them attacked, the Palestinian partition was absorbed by Trans-Jordan (Jordan) and occupied by that nation until 1967 when Israel counter-attacked the Jordanians and conquered the west bank. And just as Israel carved out its own borders to ensure a national homeland for their people, so have the Nationalist Chinese. The Kuomintang is the oldest political party in China's history. It was fighting the Manchu emperors when communism was just a theory in people's heads. They carried the battle for Chinese nationalism before Mao was even born. And thus, they deserve the opportunity to be an integral part of any Chinese political system. You can go back in history as far as you would like, but whereever you start out, you'll find that nations and states were founded on a pattern of conquest and imperialism. Even at a tribal level, you'll see one tribe dominate another and enslaved or subjugated. Nothing new about the process... You just happen to place more emphasis on the past 100 years, while ignoring the previous 4000 years of history. people, and Third World people in particular, will not trade their dignity for a loaf of bread and a fistful of dollars.... ROFLMAO!!!!! Just what color is the sky in your world Gustave?? People have been whoring out their dignity out for money since the beginning of history!!! How do you think the Dutch were able to buy Manhattan Island for the equivalent of $24 worth of beads and babbles?? The majority of pre-1948 Palestinians sold their property to the Jews who, since they they were under a British rule that was distinctly biased against them in favor of the Arabs, would simply not have been permitted to confiscate property arbitrarily.
