Mezz ~ some good news from Texas ~

Atwater, who spent more than $100,000 taking her case to the Supreme Court, has not given up. She has pressed for the Texas Legislature to consider a bill that would prohibit police from arresting motorists for these kind of minor incidents.

I was thinking that a way to go would be to garner energy in the states that currently allow these arrests. Atwater sounds like quite a woman. Now we'll see if the bill goes all the way.

If it doesn't, citable offences for underage drinking might land some young people behind bars, after cuffing and strip searching.

;) couldn't help myself. I wouldn't wish that on any decent person, just doing the things we do. The irony is esquisite, though.

But then... maybe it was an act of civil-disobidence, to point out that it could happen to ANYONE.
