<<Unfortunately, when I tried to use one last weekend, I was told that Cityspree declared bankruptcy, and all merchants in Atlanta area got together and decided not to honor them>>

I got stuck here to in New England. Yesterday tried to use one of the certs and the operation said not valid anymore.
Also there site was down yesterday and today it is up and going. I thot the deal was too good to be true. I was caught with only one certificate. Where did you see that they were bankrupt?

LV,

Yes, they have filed for bankruptcy protection, but are still operating. From what I understand, if you send the certificates in, Cityspree will refund the money.

I have 8 or so certificates left. So far, have not been turned down, but some merchants have definitely stopped doing so. I'm a little surprised that the merchants are willing to incur the wrath of customers, but it looks like what has happened is that Cityspree made deals with merchants/restaurants for a year, and put up the certificates right away, "frontloading" (presumably to increase cash flow).
