The only advantage they have is that they're better than any alternative. That is a classic line I will remember.

I've seen 100 page agreements easier to break out of than a properly drafted one page agreement. A CAPL oil lease is one exception that is almost iron clad due to the amount of years, law suits, lawyers and judges who have hammered away at them.

A mining lease is a little more open to interpretation because there are so few mines as opposed to scads of oil wells.

I have found the cheapest way to settle something is to hire the most expensive specialized lawyer, at the very least he is conflicted, at the very most you might win an award.
